Motocross MXGP States of Goias 2014

GP States of Goias (Brazil)

Fourth podium this season for Ferrandis

The 2014 Motocross World Championship travels to South America for the last two rounds of the series. In Trindade (Brazil), Antonio Cairoli claimed his eighth World Title, while Jordi Tixier remains a title contender in the MX2 class before the final round in Mexico.

The MX2 races offered a great show on this new, artificial track, including many jumps. The series had two new winners as Frenchman Romain Febvre and Slovenian Tim Gajser both had their first ever heat wins. With a win and a third position Febvre also won his first ever GP, beating fellow countryman Dylan Ferrandis by a single point. It was the fourth time this season that Dylan got a podium result. “I’m happy to get another podium this season, but also disappointed to finish second, only one point behind the winner! My starts were not so good; I was in the top ten each moto but had to fight to come back in each race in second position. We had some very nice battles today; the track was nice to ride, and, although there was mainly one line in many sections, there were some possibilities to pass. It’s never easy to race overseas as you can’t train during the week and spend many hours in planes and airports; this evening I’m tired after my two races, but next week the goal will be to do even better in Mexico, and to finally get that first GP win,” said Dylan. After two bad starts Jordi Tixier came back strong to secure fourth position, and is now 23 points behind the current series leader Jeffrey Herlings who missed the event due to his broken leg. For his return to racing Arnaud Tonus got a great podium result in race one, and finished sixth of the event.

In the MXGP class German Max Nagl got a double win, and beats Gautier Paulin. Antonio Cairoli secured his eighth World title with a third position overall, tight with Steven Frossard. Second of the opening race, the Frenchman twisted his ankle and later crashed in the second heat losing a podium result.
